Mitch Vingle from the Charleston Gazette claims he has received his Heisman ballot and says Ingram is "second to Stanford senior battering ram Toby Gerhart" in his mind although he will hold off on sending his ballot until next week.

When you really get into the numbers, Gerhart is a blowout winner. Gerhart is what the Heisman is all about and what's right with college football. I hope voters see this and just don't vote for "their guy".

Saw this on a Texas message board today.

"Just talked to Spencer Tillman... (Heisman related)

Fyi...

Spencer's one of the nicest guys in the business if you ever get chance to meet him. He comes into our newsroom every week to shoot a segment for CBS Sports. He says he's voting for Colt McCoy for Heisman unless something dramatic happens this weekend (ie Tebow goes crazy and routs Bama big.) He's picking Bama though."

Next week's edition of the poll should be all of the voters' final votes, getting us 13 voters worth of knowledge, although it doesn't say who voted how so it will be hard to do the regions.

Shatel: Suh is worthy of Heisman

That said, here's my ballot heading into the last weekend of college games:

1. Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska.

2. Colt McCoy, Texas.

3. Tim Tebow, Florida.

I can wait until the dust settles on the Big 12 championship bout between Suh and McCoy late Saturday night. I'm not sure that it will matter. To sway my vote, McCoy may have to score six touchdowns, throw a pass off the monster alien video board, get Bo Pelini to laugh and promise to bring a Chick-fil-a to Omaha. Or just get Pelini to smile.

I'm pretty locked in on Suh, for two reasons: I believe that Suh is the best player in the country, and I want to use my vote to make a statement.

The BEST college player should be the winner of the Heisman.

Make the award worth something. Such willed an average team to the verge of a championship. Over 80 tackles, 12 sacks, etc. for a DT! Truly transcends anything from the norm. Find another player that defines that kind of dominance.

Please vote for the player that deserves the award. SUH!

Sean Keeler of the Des Moines register just announced he voted for SUH #1 on his ballot.

My official 2009 Heisman Trophy ballot, submitted this afternoon:

1. NDAMUKONG SUH, DT, Nebraska. Best individual player, best individual game-changer, I saw in person (it wasn’t Suh’s fault Iowa State beat Nebraska in Lincoln; the big lug blocked two kicks in that game) or on television this fall. I was leaning toward Suh as my No. 3 choice Saturday morning, anyway; when he took over the Big 12 Championship game, that sealed it. The numbers don’t do the season justice, but they’re more than respectable: 82 tackles and 12 sacks ? from an interior line position. Most outstanding college football player of 2009. Period.

2. C.J. SPILLER, RB, Clemson. Found the end zone as a tailback (11 times), a receiver (four times), returner (five times) and a quarterback (once). A one-man wrecking crew.
3. TOBY GERHART, RB, Stanford. If Spiller wasn’t the best tailback in the country, then Gerhart (1,736 rushing yards, 26 touchdowns) sure as heck was.

After sleeping on it (for 2 ½ hours) before the early flight back to Omaha today, I elevated Suh to the top of my ballot and cast it electronically this morning. Twenty-four hours ago, I had Suh at second or third, behind Colt McCoy of Texas and maybe Toby Gerhart of Stanford.

I am writing to encourage you to cast your 2009 Heisman Trophy vote for a truly deserving candidate: Toby Gerhart. Toby, all the while taking 21 units in a challenging major, leads the nation in rushing yardage and touchdowns and has carried Stanford on his back to 8 wins. When the opponent is toughest--such as Top 10 and Rose Bowl Bound Oregon--Toby has been at his best. The Heisman Trophy shouldn't automatically go to the QB of the National Champion, but to the best player in college football. This year it is Toby Gerhart.

Thank you for your consideration.

Pat Forde is voting Suh first per the New York Times Dec 6 article listed below but also states he hasn't sent his ballot in yet.

"The wide-open nature of the race is evidenced by the ballot of Pat Forde, a senior writer for ESPN.com. He said he intended to vote Suh first, followed by Gerhart and Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore."
