Tack on Charles White, OJ Simpson, Marcus Allen and Mike Garrett for Bush. Carson Palmer might, repeat moght, vote for Leinart first, but I doubt it.

Posted by: Matt | Nov 25, 2005 4:09:39 PM

On ESPN GameDay a few weekends ago, Desmond Howards said that (at the time) he would vote for Reggie Bush, as would Marcus Allen, Tim Brown and Charles Woodson.

http://www.collegefootballresource.com/blog/2005/11/12/saturday-live-thread-111205.html#comments

On today's Texas/Texas A&M broadcast, Craig James and Ed Cunningham, both Heisman voters, said they had Bush in front of Young after the game but would wait until next weekend to choose their candidate.

Posted by: CFR | Nov 25, 2005 8:20:18 PM

Also, NationalChamps.net's Todd Helmick is an official Heisman voter. I'd wait until after next weekend's games, but right now his Heisman ballot is 1)Bush 2)Young 3)Leinart

http://www.nationalchamps.net/2005/heisman/index.htm

He usually updates pretty soon after games.

My apologies for the H word, also. I'll refrain from using it from this point onward.

Posted by: CFR | Nov 25, 2005 9:54:37 PM

Matt Leinart said at the begining of the season that he will vote for Reggie Bush.

Posted by: Frank | Nov 25, 2005 10:10:49 PM

Regarding all the USC alumni with Trophies, I'm going to hold off a little bit - mostly, I want to hear something akin to an inside source (which we had last year). Also, I want to hear what they're doing with their #3 votes -- Dwayne Jarrett? LenDale White? Vince Young?

Leinart is on record saying that he's voting all three slots USC - and most expect his #3 to be his roommate, Dwayne.

Posted by: Kari Chisholm | Nov 25, 2005 11:53:17 PM

Leinert said he was voting for Bush and one, maybe two other trojans. Expect his ballot to look like; Bush, Jarrett, White

Posted by: Jon | Nov 26, 2005 9:15:00 AM

Welcome back. Having kept track of your sight for the past three years, I'm very glad to see that the H------ folk did not scare you off.

Go Reggie Bush!

Posted by: Sonia | Nov 26, 2005 11:02:48 AM

I heard Craig James and Ed Cunningham state that if they had to vote today (Nov. 25), they would probably cast their vote for Reggie Bush. The place was the telecast of the UT vs. Texas A&M game in the 4th quarter.

Posted by: Bill Kennedy | Nov 26, 2005 11:04:53 AM

Lee Corso announced on ESPN College GameDay, Nov. 26, that he thought Vince Young was the most deserving candidate. (Also brought out was the fact that he made that projection in August and was sticking by it.)

Posted by: Bill Kennedy | Nov 26, 2005 11:10:41 AM

Bob Burger and his partner, Bob ??? said on their radio show, KPMC 1540 in LA, today 11/26/2005 that they vote for Reggie Bush #1, VY #2, and Leinart #3.

Posted by: James C. | Nov 26, 2005 2:23:49 PM

Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN is voting Reggie Bush #1 (been a big supporter all year, and the Fresno game sealed it for him)

Posted by: Ken | Nov 26, 2005 3:38:56 PM

Declared on the Miami/UVA game...

Brent Musberger:
#1 Reggie Bush
#2 Vince Young
#3 Dude from Penn State...forgot his name

Jack Arute
#1 Reggie Bush
#2 Vince Young
#3 Matt Leinart

Third guy on the ABC Miami game crew:
#1 Reggie Bush
#2 Matt Leinart
#3 Vince Young

Posted by: Juan | Nov 26, 2005 3:54:02 PM

Jack Arute of ESPN.com just declared 1)Bush, 2)Young, 3)Leinert, in the 4th quarter of the UVA/Miami game.

Another broadcaster (looking for his name right now) said 1)Bush, 2)Leinert, 3)Young, provided USC wins out.

The third broadcaster (also searching for his name) said 1)Bush, 2)Young, 3)Robinson

Well, I'll post again if I figure out who the other two announcers are. Or maybe somebody else will have caught it.

Posted by: Erin | Nov 26, 2005 3:56:07 PM

Beano Cook said on the radio today that he was holding his ballot until after next weeks games but is planning on voting for Reggie Bush.

Posted by: goreg | Nov 26, 2005 6:39:21 PM

Erin & Juan -- Can we found out who the "third guy" is?

Posted by: Kari Chisholm | Nov 26, 2005 11:54:45 PM

Just a heads up, earlier this year the Atlanta Journal Constitution said its staff will not be voting for the Heisman (and I believe any other awards), so if you run across "votes" by any of their columnists, that information clashes with what I'd read earlier in the year.

Posted by: CFR | Nov 26, 2005 11:56:57 PM

It looks like the Chicago Sun Times' Ron Rapoport has chosen Reggie Bush #1, #2 and #3 (jokingly). At least a #1 vote for Bush.

http://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051124/SPORTS/511240711/1006

Does he have a vote?

Both are waiting, but they might be worth checking back with later.

This is a Bush vote, with what looks like unclear #2/#3 for Leinart and Young (below)

http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=95791&ran=105656

This below is a ballot, Leinart probably #3, Bush/Young #1 or #2

Might have already noted, but this guy has Bush somewhere on his ballot, I'm guessing sarcasm meaning he's got him #1

Here's a Heisman voter, chose Bush last year, still undecided in this piece, but talking about Bush and Jerome Harrison

I heard Paul Hornung on the radio last night (possibly on Chet Coppock) say that he was voting Brady Quinn 1st, Vince Young 2nd and Reggie Bush 3rd. It doesn't look like you have his vote posted yet. Love your site. Glad you're back!

The NY Post's Lenn Robbins (scan down a bit) has very likely gone Bush 1 Young 2

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/sports/articles/1123fbcnotes1123.html

Posted by: CFR | Nov 27, 2005 1:50:05 PM

From this story by Lenn Robbins (dated Nov. 13, pre Bush vs. Fresno) it looks like Desmond Howard will have Brady Quinn somewhere on his ballot, and former Heisman winner Mike Rozier will not vote Matt Leinart #1 "no repeat winners"

Posted by: CFR | Nov 27, 2005 1:53:39 PM

to answer the questions above, ABC's "A team" is Brent Mussberger, Gary Danielson, and Jack Arute.

So that must mean that the third guy is Gary Danielson.

2)Young
3)Quinn

2)Bush
3)?

John Tucker of the Knoxville News Sentinel is calling it a coin toss between Bush and Young, and mentions Leinart and Quinn after those two. Right now you can count on Bush and Young going in the first two slots for him, however.

Ted Miller of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer is waiting until after the third, but he says this:

He will have UCLA's Drew Olson on his ballot barring a disastrous game. And if he upsets USC, he'll be #1 on the ballot.

The other candidates for inclusion on his ballot are the usual suspects: Bush, Leinart and Young.

No big surprise here, Reggie Bush picks up 4 1st place votes from Mike Garrett, O.J. Simpson, Charles White and Marcus Allen. Garrett and Allen have also given their 2nd place votes to Matt Leinart.

Bob Burger and his partner, Bob ??? said on their radio show, KPMC 1540 in LA, today 11/26/2005 that they vote for Reggie Bush #1, VY #2, and Leinart #3.

Sorry -- just got word from Bob Berger that neither he nor Bob Stelton have a Heisman vote. We can take those votes off the board.

Posted by: Kari Chisholm | Nov 28, 2005 1:47:08 AM

Billy Simms stated his vote for VY on "The Sportscage", rebroadcast this past Saturday morning, on ESPN2, in the Tulsa, Oklahoma market, Cox Channel 26. Of more interest, he stated that each former winner had three (3) votes each, therefore weighted against the votes of the broadcasters and writers. Have you seen references to this elsewhere? Is not stated on the H------ voting procedure page. Of course, Simms could be wrong.

These weren't final ballots but I doubt anything's been done to change their decisions:

From my blog's comments section, watching the 11/12/2005 ESPN Game Day, Desmond Howard said he talked to several former winners and they were all leaning towards Reggie Bush

Marcus Allen-duh
Desmond Howard-he was still talking Bush up on some of ESPN's between-game programming last Saturday
Charles Woodson
Tim Brown-Brown might sneak Brady Quinn in there so I'd be a little more skeptical of his choice

thall87, you wrote:

"Of more interest, [Billy Simms] stated that each former winner had three (3) votes each, therefore weighted against the votes of the broadcasters and writers. Have you seen references to this elsewhere? Is not stated on the H------ voting procedure page. Of course, Simms could be wrong."

I think Billy is confused. Each of the voters, media and former winners, gets the same ballot. That ballot has three lines - for a #1, #2, and #3 pick. Here's the relevant spot from the Trophy Trust's website:

"Each Section within the United States has 145 media votes, totaling 870 media votes across the country. Additionally every former H------ winner, 52 presently, has a vote as well. In 1999, The H------ Trophy agreed to develop a special program to allow the public at large to become part of the balloting process by permitting one (1) fan vote eligible in the overall tabulation. This program continues in 2005, bringing the total number of voters for the 2005 H------ race to 923.

The actual ballots include a space for electors to designate three individuals for the H------ Trophy. The first choice on an elector's ballot receives three points in the overall voting tabulation, the second choice receives two points and the third choice receives one point."

Desmond Howard, 1991 Stiff Arm Trophy winner, just said on the ESPN halftime show that Reggie Bush was the man who was going to join his fraternity. Add one first place vote for Reggie Bush

Posted by: Doug Sherman | Dec 1, 2005 6:52:26 PM

The hosts of New York sports radio station WFAN's drive-time show, "Mike and the Mad Dog", Mike Francesa and Chris Russo, say they're voting for Reggie Bush. I think they then have Young and Leinart following in that order. Francesa's vote seems very secure, he voted for Bush last year.

Here are their audio archives, http://wfan.com/chrismikeaudio/?b_start=20. There are a couple of college football discussions on the second page. They state their votes in the Dan Fouts conversation (which was a couple of weeks ago, their opinion of Young as #2 may have changed since then). They don't do much college football on their show, as you can probably guess, as callers would prefer to discuss preposterous hypothetical baseball trades--so it shouldn't take you long to find.

Posted by: Ali | Dec 1, 2005 7:20:55 PM

Matt Hayes vote should be changed on the Big Board. In this week's Sporting News he writes he is voting for Vince Young. I believe his top 3 are 1. Young, 2. Bush, 3. Leinart.

Is Sporting News going to sue you now that I have used their name on the website?

The DAC really needs to get over themselves.

Posted by: Spray | Dec 1, 2005 7:27:26 PM

Not sure if you need 100% certainty or not but I'm pretty positive Al Eischbach from WWLS OKC voted Bush 1,Young 2, and Leinhart 3.
