Final Rocky Mountain Poll: Colt McCoy, barely.

The Rocky Mountain News has released the final edition of its poll - and it's close:

As a precursor to what might be among the tightest national balloting ever to determine the winner of college football's most prestigious national award, 10 Rocky panelists with Heisman Trophy votes - two voters from each region of the country - labored to select Texas quarterback Colt McCoy as their 2008 winner.

McCoy received 42 points, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford received 41 and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman winner, received 34.

How good is their poll? Pretty damn good:

The Rocky Mountain News' Heisman Trophy poll, in its 22nd year, is the longest-running weekly Heisman ranking in the country. This is the final vote of the year, with the winner being announced Saturday. The final Rocky poll has correctly picked the Heisman winner in 18 of the previous 21 seasons.

We'll see.

I dont think he should have because he didn't lead his team anywhere this year and he dont have as good of stats as Sam Bradford does.

Bradford has better overall stats and has led his team to the national championship game. Any reasonable person not voting on emotion will be able to look at the stats and the performances and come to the conclusion that Bradford is the clear winner (but McCoy does come close).

Whats sad is that if the Texas linebacker had intercepted the pass late in the 4th qtr of the Texas-TT game, McCoy wins the Heisman for the undefeated Longhorns. Instead, the easy interception was dropped, Texas loses the game and the rest is history.

Ifs, buts, and candy nuts.....It could be said that if OU's linebacker had not gotten hurt, OU would have continued to shut them down....

The only facts are as follows: Texas lost to Tech, and OU is in the National Championship

If McCoy wins, will you promise to eat your ifs, butt, and candy nuts slowly and with honey on top -- or on bottom, as the case may be. lol

Colt didnt lead his team anywhere? are you an idiot, they are going to a BCS game and beat OU head to head. Also he may not have to stats Bradford has because Mack would pull him in the 4th unlike Stoops who would run up the score and leave Bradford in until the clock hit 0.

this whole if our linebackers didn't get hurt thing is ridiculous. Texas had a 90 yard drive. NINETY. Before Reynolds got hurt.

that shows how dumb you OU fans are...bradford has better stats because of the system hes in....should harrell win the heisman bc he has better stats than bradford?? secondly, mccoy has only played an entire game like 3 times...he sits out the entire fourth quarter while classy stoops leaves bradford to run up the score
